What we can & can’t get offers on
What we can & can’t get offers on
- Of course, you can upload as many cars as you want.
- We have bidders for all categories of car and in all price ranges.
- We can’t get prices for anything over 2007
- This is being moved to 2008 in late 2021 and moved up each year after that
- Your car could be perfect but since insurance rules in Ireland changed making owning or insuring a car older than 12 years old almost impossible, this has had the net effect of devaluing these cars to almost noting in terms of resale value
- Yes, bidder will be made aware of the NCT status when bidding
- It would be handy for the explain to the bidder what the car failed on if it did fail its last NCT or the reason the NCT hasn’t been done
- Yes we can
- Road tax doesn’t affect the value of the car so it’s not something bidders will take into account when bidding
- If there is 9 months left, it’s a nice to have so I would mention it when uploading the car but it’s not a sellable extra.
- Its important to note though, having 9 month or multi months tax on the car plays no part in the value and doesn’t get a premium price
- The difference it may make is of there are two identical cars in identical condition, one with 9 months tax and one with no tax; it may get your car sold quicker.
- It has become increasingly difficult to get bids on cars with unpaid VRT.
- This is because of the uncertainty around Revenue charges
- Bidders are more cautious about buying a car where the final price is not guaranteed
- If at all possible pay the VRT and re-upload the car.
- All cars must be drivable so our inspector can test them
- While the car may only need a clutch or replacement part, this is not something we can sign off on, as there may be other unforeseen issues when the work is being done
